The German aftermarket specialists from Wimmer RS revealed recently a new power kit for the Volkswagen Polo R WRC. The standard version of the Volkswagen Polo R WRC Street (the road legal version of the World Rally Championship racecar) is powered by a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged engine that delivers 220 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Thanks to Wimmer's new power package, the same engine puts out a massive 420 hp (309 kW), 480 lb-ft of torque. This almost double the power output of the factory version of the pocket rocket. Wimmer's new power kit for the VW Polo R WRC includes an upgraded turbocharger, a more capable air intake system, a 6-bar fuel pump, a modified high-pressure pump, a Y-pipe with sport catalytic converter, and a stainless steel sports exhaust system including with valve control.
The power package also includes a new intercooler, and a re-programmed ECU.
Wimmer prices their new performance package for the VW Polo R WRC at 10,200 EUR. For this much money you get a 3.15 kg/hp power-to-weight ratio and a top speed of 280 km/h. Unfortunately, the tuner did not disclose the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time of their modified Polo R WRC.
Apart from the powerkit, Wimmer is also offering high-performance K&N air filter, a set of 17-inch 0.Z. alloys and an adjustable KW-coilover suspension.
