The latest rumors say that VW is planning no less than three performance versions of the new Polo, the Volkswagen Polo GTI, obviously, and the Volkswagen Polo GTD and the Volkswagen Polo R. The new Volkswagen Polo GTI will hit the showroom floor in the spring next year and will be powered by a 1.4-liter TSI engine which will develop 170 hp.
For the diesel market, the German company is also planning to offer a performance version with the Volkswagen Polo GTD. However, the introduction of the Volkswagen Polo GTD is closely linked to the success of the current diesel versions of the model.
Just as they did with the Scirocco and the new Golf, VW will also launch the Volkswagen Polo R. The Volkswagen Polo R will be powered by the same 1.4 liter TSI engine that will be boosted to output 190 hp.
