Various sources are reporting today that VW is planning to build a performance Volkswagen Polo R version. This new Volkswagen Polo R info is plausible since the company has recently announced it's 'R' performance division. No official details are available yet regarding the Volkswagen Polo R, however, various rumors say it will have a 1.6-litre turbo engine. The Volkswagen Polo R will develop 210bhp and yet known amounts of torque.
Unfortunately, the VW Polo platform does not have enough space for an all-wheel-drive transmission, as in the case of the Golf R. This means the Volkswagen Polo R will be front-wheel-drive, but we're sure the company will offer it with the trick 7-speed DSG gearbox.
The Volkswagen Polo R will also keep the differential on the front axle from the Polo GTI.
The Volkswagen Polo R will probably have a lowered suspension, bigger brakes and an upgraded interior. The Volkswagen Polo R price and availability will be announced at a later date.
