Maserati announced that it has recently conducted a test on the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany. the cars involved were the Enzo Ferrari, the Koenigsegg CCX, the Maserati MC12, the Pagani Zonda F Clubsport and the Porsche Carrera GT. During the test, the company claims the Maserati MC12 managed the best time of 7:24.29, which is also a new lap record. The Maserati MC12 shared the podium with the Zonda on the second place and the Enzo on the third.

Although being the heaviest of the group, the engineers believe the Maserati MC12 won because it delivered accessible performance and it was consistently at or near the top of the cornering G-forces. This gave the driver the possibility to get on the power harder and earlier than in its rivals.
