Minerva J.M. Brabazon Supercar

 »  »  »

The Belgian luxury automobile brand Minerva is about to be reborn with the launch of the J.M. Brabazon supercar. The Minerva cars were built between 1902 and 1938. The car manufacturer went out of business in 1956. Founded by Sylvain de Jong, Minerva used to build cars, as well as motorcycles and bicycles. Some of the cars built by Minerva include the AL Rollston Convertible Sedan from 1931, and the Imperia AP 22 CV limousine from 1937. Apparently, some investors are looking to revive the Minerva brand. Their first new car is going to be named J.M. Brabazon, after a British racing driver. To power the new J.M. Brabazon supercar, Minerva is going to use a twin-turbo V12 engine and two electric motors. The Minerva J.M. Brabazon is going to be equipped with a sequential transmission, a limited slip differential, and regenerative brakes.

Its hybrid drivetrain might suggest that the J.M. Brabazon is going to feature and all-wheel-drive system too. The Minerva J.M. Brabazon is going to offer no less than five different driving modes: economy, normal, sport, race and safe. The four driving modes are pretty much obvious. What we're wondering is what are going to be the characteristics of the "safe" driving mode. Minerva estimates that the J.M. Brabazon is going to have a top speed of around 248 mph (400 km/h).

Minerva is going to build the J.M. Brabazon on a carbon fiber monocoque chassis with a carbon Kevlar body. In terms of styling, the front end of the J.M. Brabazon seems to be inspired by the Audi R8. The new supercar will feature LED lights, 19-inch alloys.

We'll have more details regarding the Minerva J.M. Brabazon supercar as soon as they're available.
