Mini Cooper Canyon

The British press has uncovered BMW's plans to launch the Mini Cooper Canyon - a competitor for the newly unveiled Range Rover Evoque. The Mini Cooper Canyon will be a three-door version of the Countryman and will be based on the same platform. The Mini Cooper Canyon will be positioned above the Countryman on the market, in terms of equipment levels, quality and price, of course.

The Mini Cooper Canyon will have a new, coupe-like, roof line, will have just two seats and a shorter chassis in comparison to the Countryman.

The Mini Cooper Canyon will be powered by either a 1.6-litre JCW turbo engine developing 208 bhp, or a 2.0-litre diesel engine with 201 bhp.

Some details regarding the interior of the Mini Cooper Canyon say it will feature John Cooper Works-inspired seats covered in leather and Alcantara.

The Mini Cooper Canyon is expected to hit the market in 2012, but its price and availability are known yet.
