Mitsubishi announced today that the Mitsubishi Lancer has earned the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) Top Safety Pick award. The Mitsubishi Lancer received a top score in all three safety tests conducted by the IIHS.
"Lancer combines excellent styling, performance, fuel efficiency and value with outstanding occupant safety. With such great design elements and feature content, the new Lancer is ready to assume a leadership position in the compact segment," said EVP of Sales and Marketing Dan Kuhnert. "We're extremely pleased that the IIHS has recognized Lancer in this way, and confirmed our commitment to safety."
The new 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart and Mitsubishi Lancer GTS have the same safety architecture as the 2008 model. The Mitsubishi Lancer GTS is powered by a 168 hp, 2.4-liter engine and the Ralliart model is equipped with AWD and a turbocharged 2.0 liter engine that's good for 237 hp.
