Mitsubishi announced today that it's out of the Dakar Rally. The company says it will also withdraw from the Dakar Series and all cross-country rallies. The decision is motivated, of course, by the deterioration of the global economy.
Mitsubishi entered 26 times in the Dakar Rally, managed 12 victories and an amazing 7 consecutive wins. The Dakar experience helped Mitsubishi improve its 4WD system that equips production vehicles offering them durability and great off road performance.
The company did not say whether or not it will return to the Dakar Rally in the future.
