Nissan Hi Cross

Nissan revealed today in Geneva an amazing looking SUV / crossover concept called the Hi-Cross. The Nissan Hi-Cross is a compact concept, measuring 4660mm in length, 1850mm in width and 1670mm in height. With a 2780mm wheelbase, Nissan's Hi-Cross concept promises plenty of interior room for both passengers and their luggage. AS you can imagine, the Hi-Cross is a hybrid vehicle, powered by an electric motor / lithium-ion battery combo, which works together with a 2.0-litre direct injection petrol engine. Nissan claims that this new powertrain matches the performance of a larger displacement, 2.5-litre engine. The Hi-Cross has serious all-road ambitions, thanks to an all-wheel-drive system, which is mated to Nissan's XTRONIC continuously variable transmission.

The Japanese carmaker says that this new version of the CVT is able to reduce the fuel consumption by up to 10%.

Another interesting details about the Hi-Cross is that it uses the same battery as the one powering the Leaf. Braking energy recovery is also present.

The most striking design features of the Hi-Cross are its headlights and LED DRLs.

The "motor show" look of the concept is completed by the futuristic taillights and intricately styled wheels. The interior of the Nissan Hi-Cross is full of LCD displays and features a set of freakishly cool looking seats. Unfortunately, if the Hi-Cross will ever make it into production, all these features will be replaced by more production-ready parts.
