Land Rover has finally unveiled at the beginning of this week the much awaited Range Rover Evoque Convertible. This is the world's first luxury compact convertible SUV. The Range Rover Evoque Convertible comes with a fabric folding roof, which can be opened in 18 seconds and raised in 21 seconds at speeds of up to 30 mph. Range Rover says that the Convertible Evoque, when it has its roof raised, offers the same levels of acoustic insulation and interior comfort as its hard top version. They also say that the Evoque Convertible, when it has its roof down, offers the same boot space (251 liters) as its hard top counterpart. The Evoque Convertible comes with a four seat interior configuration. For increased protection it is equipped with a Roll-Over Protection Device that includes deployable roll-over bars hidden in the rear bodywork.
This system deploys two aluminum bars within 90 milliseconds in case it detects the vehicle is about to roll over.
The equipment list of the Range Rover Evoque Convertible includes a high-resolution 10.2-inch touchscreen, a next-generation infotainment system, InControl Touch Pro, smartphone integration, door-to-door navigation, 3G connectivity and a premium sound system. The Evoque Convertible is also equipped with four-wheel drive, a 9-speed automatic transmission, a Terrain Response system, Wade Sensing and All-Terrain Progress Control.
Range Rover is going to sell the Evoque Convertible with a choice between four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The top of the range is the Si4 petrol with 240 hp. The 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine offers a 55mpg (5.1 l/100km) fuel economy and a 149g/km CO2 emissions level.
The Range Rover Evoque Convertible's price list starts in the UK at 47,500 GBP OTR for the TD4 HSE Dynamic. The price list for the United States starts at 50,475 USD.
