Range Rover revealed today the new Hybrid and Sport Hybrid models, which are scheduled to go on sale from September 10. The first deliveries of the Range Rover Hybrid and of the Range Rover Sport Hybrid will start early next year. Both versions of the Range Rover Hybrid are powered by a 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel engine and a 35kW and 170Nm of torque electric motor. The total output of this hybrid system is rated at 340 PS at 4,000rpm and 700 Nm torque between 1,500 rpm and 3,000rpm. Both the Range Rover Sport Hybrid and its bigger brother accelerate from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 7 seconds and they have a top speed of 135mph (218km/h). The new versions of the popular SUV offer a 44.1mpg fuel economy and a 169g/km CO2 emissions level. The engine is mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.

Range Rover says that the electric part of the new hybrids weighs less than 120 kg.

The Range Rover Hybrid and the Sport version can reach a top speed of up to 30mph (48km/h) in the electric-only mode, and they have a maximum range of 1 mile (1.6 km).

Range Rover says that the new hybrid SUVs offer the same passenger and luggage space as their conventional siblings. The price lists of the Range Rover Hybrid and of the Sport are going to be announced at a later date.
