Rinspeed has revealed this week their latest concept, which is called Dock+Go. Based on a Smart ForTwo, the Rinspeed Dock+Go concept will have its global debut at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show, in March next year. The Rinspeed Dock+Go features a new modular mobility system, which includes a third axle, which can be detached from the car when it's not needed. Basically, Rinspeed's Dock+Go concept allows the docking of various "backpacks" on the rear of the Smart ForTwo.

Rinspeed's single single-axle packs can serve various purposes, such as delivering pizza for example.

In fact, the demonstration vehicle, which will be displayed in Geneva, will be designed exactly for that. It will even feature a built-in heater. Rinspeed says it can design packs for tools, camping, golf, skiing and even a party pack.

The Rinspeed Dock+Go Smart ForTwo is powered by an electric motor which offers a range of up to 120 km/h. If this is less than your requirements, the Rinspeed Dock+Go can be fitted with a pack featuring a combustion or range extender engine.

We'll have more details about the Rinspeed Dock+Go concept in March.
