Video: Mercedes Breaks Drifting Guinness World Record

Mercedes announced today that over the weekend it managed to break the Guinness World Record for the longest drift. The drifting prize was brought home by driver Mauro Calo on 19 June while driving a Mercedes C63 AMG sedan. The previous record was set at 394 meters, and Mauro simply smashed it. He managed to drift his C63 AMG a total distance of 2308 meters. The event took place on the Handling Circuit at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge Surrey. Mauro drifted his Mercedes C63 AMG for almost 8 laps around a complete 360 degree circle of tarmac.

The 2011 Mercedes C63 AMG, which he used to break the Drifting Guinness World Record, is powered by a 6208 cc V8 engine developing 457 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Merc's official specifications say

that the C63 AMG is able to rocket from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds and to reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
