Here comes the first extensive review of the new 2014 Mercedes C Class, which has been unveiled at the end of last year. The C Class is probably the most popular Mercedes model at this moment. Originally, The Mercedes C Class was developed in 1992 to replace the Mercedes 190. Apparently, Mercedes is planning to keep this version of the C Class (2014), which is the fifth one, up until the year 2021. AS with every car manufacturer, Mercedes is also in a race to make its cars more efficient. With this goal in mind, Mercedes managed to make the 2014 C Class between 70kg and 100 kg (depending on the version) lighter than its predecessor. This reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, and it improves handling and performance. Even though it’s lighter than before, the 2014 C Class is slightly bigger, offering more room for its passengers and their luggage. The 2014 Mercedes C Class has been styled to resemble the top of the range S Class. The new C Class (2014) is also more aerodynamic than its predecessor. Mercedes says that the new 2014 C Class is as much as 20% more efficient than the previous version.
The model used for the purpose of this review is the 2014 Mercedes C250 Bluetec, which has a 2.1-liter turbodiesel engine. The one used in this test drive is priced at just over 30,000 GBP. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed automatic transmission. According to Mercedes' official specifications, the 2014 C250 Bluetec is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 8.1 seconds and it can reach a an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
