| This is the first time a journalists was allowed to drive the new BMW i8. This first review of the BMW i8 takes place on a race track in France. The world debut of the i8 is going to take place next month at the 2013 International Frankfurt Auto Show (IAA). BMW's new hybrid i8 sports car is expected to go on sale sometime next year. For the purpose of this test, BMW allowed the journalists access to a prototype of the i8. This means that the car is completely covered in camouflage. However, we do get a glimpse of the i8's interior. The BMW i8 is powered by a hybrid drivetrain, which includes an electric motor for the front axle (170 hp and 250 Nm) and 3-cylinder petrol engine (220 hp and 300 Nm) for the rear one. The total output of the BMW i8 is rated at 390 hp and 550 Nm of torque. BMW claims that the i8 is able to reach a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). | |||||||
