Rally Torque Press Release:

NEW RALLY ‘TASTER DAYS’ LAUNCHED FOR 2008
Learn, experience and ‘feel’ what professional rallying is like

Drive three championship-winning rally cars
Learn from three British rally champions
Experience a World Rally Championship (WRC) rally stage

Rally Torque is introducing a limited number of rally ‘taster days’ this year for would-be professional rally drivers to get behind the wheel and see if they can ‘cut it’.

The experience is based on driving three championship-winning rally cars as well as receiving tuition and being driven by some of Britain’s leading rally stars.

Learning top driving tips from the experts is a central part of the experience, with tuition from ‘names’ including Martin Rowe former British Rally Champion.

Far removed from your typical track or corporate driving day, clients get to drive real championship-winning rally cars: the legendary Ford Escort MK 1, classic Porsche 911 and modern

Subaru Impreza WRX, all with 0-60mph acceleration speeds of less than 6.0 seconds.

The taster days are held at the Walters Arena Motorsport Complex, the UK’s premier gravel test venue used by some of the top rally teams. Just half an hour from Cardiff, it is also used as part of one of the stages on Wales Rally GB, Britain’s round of the World Rally Championship.

To ensure maximum time in the cars, each day is restricted to just 12 clients. All the safety

clothing and helmets are supplied, and as befits top WRC drivers, first class catering is provided throughout the day.

Comments James Stait, former British Historic Rally Champion and the driving force behind Rally Torque, “Our new taster days are designed specifically for those who are serious about getting into competitive rallying, but don’t know if they have what it takes or can’t decide the best level or car to go for.

“This isn’t about thrashing an old banger through the dirt - it’s an opportunity to experience driving some of the best and most professionally prepared rally cars with highly experienced rally drivers.”

Your Taster Day

The day is divided into three sessions involving plenty of time in each of the three rally cars.

In the first session the aim is to familiarise you with each car on a large open gravel plateau with plenty of safe run-off areas so you can drive with growing confidence. One of Britain’s leading rally stars will sit alongside you to provide advice and feedback.

For the second session, you get to drive on the well-known and often-televised lake loop used on Wales Rally GB where the gravel roads are tight and twisting. This gives a feel for a real rally stage, and demonstrates just how precisely you have to drive as you power slide the car round the bends, again with an experienced instructor alongside to help you avoid the ditches and the lake itself!

The third session involves a change of seats as the instructor takes the wheel and gives you a blast through four miles of forest stage in each of the cars so you can see the kind of level you can aspire to.

Concluded James: “This is the ultimate rally driving taster experience, and our main objective is to give people the best possible introduction to stage rallying, without having to invest vast amounts of time and money buying their own car. To achieve this, we’ve brought together the very best of British rallying in one amazing experience.”

The cost of the Taster Day is £3,495 including VAT. For further information on achieving your driving ambition visit www.rallytorque.com or telephone 0207 100 4333.
