Skoda released the first details of the 2008 Skoda Superb that will be premiered at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show next spring. A select group of media representatives are invited to test the 2008 Skoda Superb in the harsh environment of the Death Valley desert in the United States. The 2008 Skoda Superbs that are being put through various tests are powered by a 1.8 TSI/118 kW (160 bhp) engine.

An interesting feature of the 2008 Skoda Superb is the AFS (Adaptive Front light System). The 2008 Skoda Superb's AFS system has four settings:

- INTERCITY (The headlights are in their basic positions. This mode is active at 0-15 km/h or 50-90 km/h.)

- CITY (The distribution of the light is wider and shorter. The left headlight is turned slightly to the left and tilted to avoid dazzling drivers in oncoming cars. This mode is active at 15-50 km/h.)
- HIGHWAY (both headlights are lifted. This mode is active from 90 km/h; however)
- RAIN (The light path is wide and shorter than in the Intercity mode. The right headlight is dipped downwards and the left headlight is dipped to the left and downwards. This mode is limited at speeds from 20 to 70 km/h.
