Lotus has announced today that the 2011 Lotus Elise facelift has been certified with a 149 g of CO2 per km level of emissions. This makes the 2011 Lotus Elise facelift the model with the lowest CO2 emissions level in its performance class. The 149 g/km CO2 emissions level means the 2011 Lotus Elise facelift has a 16% reduction in comparison to the previous Lotus Elise S.

Apart from the impressive CO2 emissions level, the company also announced that the 2011 Lotus Elise facelift can offer a fuel consumption in the extra urban cycle of 56.1 mpg (5.04 liters per 100 km). This means the 2011 Lotus Elise facelift can reach Marseille from Paris or Aberdeen from London (800 km) on one tank of fuel.

The 2011 Lotus Elise facelift is powered by a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder VVT-I engine that can take it from 0 to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds and to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. The low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions level of the 2011 Lotus Elise facelift are possible thanks to its low weight of just 876 kg. The guys from Lotus put things into perspective and compare the new 2011 Lotus Elise facelift with "a nameless convertible sportscar from Stuttgart (Germany)" which weighs 1335 kg.
