The replacement of the Ferrari 599, which will probably go on sale sometime in 2012, was spied recently during testing on the company's race track. The 2012 Ferrari 599 replacement is currently codenamed the F152 and is powered by a 6.3-liter V12 engine developing 700 hp. This is the same unit as the one powering the Ferrari FF, but with an increased horsepower output.

The clip's description says that this prototype is actually based on the Ferrari 599 GTO, which has underwent several modifications. For starters, the prototype is fitted with a raw exhaust system, new aerodynamics and modified headlights. Marchettino, who's always present with his camera around Prancing Horse's HQ, believes that the Ferrari 599 replacement will

also be equipped with KERS. A system currently used in Formula 1 cars for recuperating the energy lost through braking.

Some sources believe that the replacement of the Ferrari 599 will be lighter than the current model, and will use an aluminum monocoque chassis, rather than a carbon fiber one.

We'll have more details on the 2012 replacement of the Ferrari 599 as soon as they're available.
