The competitors of the 2012 LA Auto Show Design Challenge have been revealed today and they include some of the major names in the automotive industry. The designs submitted into this year's competition take into account the ever more crowded roads of the future, electronically monitored and controlled traffic and significant changes in human behavior. The main theme of the Challenge was the ultimate law enforcement patrol vehicle for the year 2025. BMW Group, General Motors, Honda, Mercedes-Benz and Subaru have all accepted the challenge raised by the 2012 LA Auto Show's organizers. BMW's E-Patrol (Human-Drone Pursuit Vehicle) centers on a modular design, and drone technology. The officer deploys either the flying drone or one of the single wheel drones to chase the suspect.

GM's Volt Squad is based on the electric model's architecture and it's designed around the concept of "OBSERVE, PURSUE and ENGAGE". Honda's CHP Drone Squad is based on a 2 vehicle system. The Auto-Drone can be operated by a human or it can operate autonomously. Its purpose is to deploy Moto-Drones, which are basically un-manned motorcycles.

Mercedes came up with a patrol vehicle based on the G Class called the Ener-G-Force and Subaru imagined the SHARC (Subaru Highway Automated Response Concept) which is a highly efficient highway patrol vehicle.
