2013 Los Angeles Auto Show Design Challenge

The 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show Design Challenge entries have been revealed today. Among the participants there are some important names from the automotive industry, such as BMW, Mazda and Subaru. Some of the most interesting designs include SAIC Motor's Roewe Mobiliant, Mazda's Auto Adapt concept, BMW's S.E.E.D concept and the JAC Motors HEFEI and the Toyota e-grus. The Mazda Auto Adapt is a vehicle that can adapt and that can transform from a fully autonomous vehicle to a manual car. The BMW S.E.E.D, or Sustainable Efficient Exploratory Device, uses a hollow reed design in a spiral dynamic configuration. The vehicle resembles a grasshopper, capable of running, jumping, climbing, swimming and also the ability to squeeze between narrow openings.

The SAIC Roewe Mobiliant is a single-seat vehicle for urban public transit, that was inspired by the ant. The JAC HEFEI, or Harmonious Eco-Friendly Efficient Infrastructure, is a mobility solution based on the symbiosis between vehicles and their urban environment. The Toyota e-grus is designed as the ultimate electric hyper-commuter vehicle. The Toyota e-grus should travel for long distances, and it is simpered by the resilient crane.
