The Italdesign Giugiaro Brivido concept was one of the show stoppers in Geneva today. With stunning looks, supercar performance, and a genuine respect for the environment, the Giugiaro Brivido is one of the coolest things we could have running on our roads today. Sadly, it's just a concept and chances are it will never go into production. Giugiaro's Brivido measures 4,980 mm in length, 1,298 mm height, 1.960 mm in width and has a 2.910 mm wheelbase. The concept has four seats and two gullwing-style doors, which enable the access in the front and on the back. To power the Brivido, Giugiaro uses a hybrid system, which includes a 3.0-liter V6 engine (265 kW / 360 hp and 460 Nm) and an electric motor (300
kW / 408 hp and 600 Nm of torque). In total, the Brivido can develop an astounding 768 hp and 1060 Nm of torque.
Giugiaro rates the Brivido with a top speed of 275 km/h and a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time of 5.8 seconds. The concept comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Italdesign built the Giugiaro Brivido entirely out of aluminum, carbon fiber and glass. The concept features large windows, which offer both good visibility and a pleasing interior atmosphere. One of the distinctive features of the Brivido is its LED headlights, which extend all the way to the middle of the side panel.
Instead of sideview mirrors, the Giugiaro Brivido features two cameras which emerge from the body and project images on two displays located on each side of the steering wheel.
The Human Machine Interface you see inside the Brivido was developed by Volkswagen Group Electronics Research Lab (ERL) in collaboration with IDG. The HMI allows you to fully integrate your iPad, which can be hidden inside the dashboard. Both the driver and the passengers each have an LCD monitor in front of them, which allows them to access the same information. The main controls of the car are accessed via touch- sensitive panels located on the steering wheel.
One of the interesting features of the Giugiaro Brivido is its 3D infotainment system, which also includes 3D glasses.
