Caterham revealed at last weekend's SingTel Singapore Grand Prix the new AeroSeven Concept, which previews a future high-performance road car. The Caterham AeroSeven is going to be powered by a new naturally aspirated Ford Duratec-based 2.0-liter engine that develops 240ps (237bhp) at 8,500 rpm. Caterham says that with this engine, the AeroSeven is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4 seconds. The AeroSeven's engine complies with the EU6 emissions standards and it comes from the Caterham Seven 485. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and a rear-wheel-drive system. Caterham says that the AeroSeven's exterior styling previews the carmaker's future design language, which will also influence their future sportscar, due to be launched in 2016.

Caterham's new model is currently being developed in collaboration with Renault.

The Caterham AeroSeven, which was developed in collaboration with the carmaker's F1 team, will be their first model to come equipped with traction control. Caterham's new Engine Management System will allow the AeroSeven to offer a fully-adjustable traction control system and a launch control function.

The AeroSeven is built on the Seven CSR platform and it features a carbon fiber body. It comes with a distinctive steering wheel, and a fully active Graphical Display Unit (GDU).

The body of the AeroSeven is designed to offer maximum downforce and a reduced drag coefficient. It features a newly developed rollover protection system and Avon CR500 tires. At the interior, the Caterham's AeroSeven is equipped with a GDU that displays engine speed, gear selection, vehicle speed, traction and brake settings, and fuel and oil levels. AeroSeven's steering wheel offers switches for sele3cting various functions, such as 'Road mode', 'Flash-to-Pass' and 'Pit Lane Speed Limiter'.

Caterham equips the AeroSeven fully independent rear and F1-style inboard (pushrod) front suspension, high-performance dampers, springs and anti-roll bars. The AeroSeven is also fitted with a Bosch anti-lock braking system.

The Caterham AeroSeven's price has not been announced yet, but the manufacturer says it will put it into production in the fall of 2014.
