Land Rover released today the images, specifications and price list of the 2012 Defender model range, which will go on sale in the UK from November 2011. The 2012 Land Rover Defender comes with the cleanest engine ever to power the model range, which is a 2.2-litre diesel. the new unit replaces the previous EU4 2.4-litre diesel. The new 2.2 engine of the 2012 Defender meets the EU5 emissions standard and develops 122 PS at 3,500rpm and 360 Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. This means that, despite its smaller displacement, it develops more than the 2.4-liter unit it replaces. The top speed of the 2.2-liter 2012 Defender is rated at 90 mph. The CO2 emissions of the Land Rover Defender 2012 model range are rated at 266g/km for the 90 and 295g/km for the 110 and 130.
The 2012 Defender keeps the GFT MT 82 six-speed transmission, which offers both a high top gear for cruising and an enhanced low-speed crawl capability.
Land Rover is offering two new optional packs for the 2012 Defender. These include the Comfort Pack, which is priced at 1650 GBP, and the Off-Road Pack, which will cost you 1500 GBP. The Comfort Pack includes air conditioning, a CD Player with auxiliary input, electric windows and remote central locking, while the Off-Road one offers ABS, heavy duty rims and MTR tires, a tow ball and
an under-ride protection bar.
Apart from the technical improvements mentioned above, Land Rover also gave the 2012 Defender a modified front fascia, a new instrument panel with all-LED illumination, new storage spaces, a powerful heating and ventilation system, and revised seats and seating configurations.
The 2012 Land Rover Defender price list starts at 20,995 GBP on-the-road for the 90 Pick Up model and goes up to 32,295 GBP for the 110 XS Station Wagon version. The full price list of the 2012 Defender range is available below.
