2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S Gets Factory Power Kit

Porsche announced today the launch of a new power kit for the latest versions of the 911 Carrera S (2012), as well as other personalization options. The new factory power kit increases the output of the 3.8-litre boxer engine of the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S from 400 hp (294 kW) to 430 hp (316 kW). When equipped with the fast-shifting PDK transmission, in Sport Plus mode, the 2012 911 Carrera S is able to get from nought to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 4.0 seconds. Its top speed is also increased to 306 km/h (PDK). The seven-speed manual transmission version of the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S is able to reach 308 km/h. The extra 30 hp offered by the new power kit do not increase the fuel consumption of the car.

The new 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S factory power kit includes a remapped ECU, bespoke cylinder heads with different camshafts, and a new variable resonance intake system with six air flaps and a resonance flap. The program also includes an additional center radiator, and a new sport exhaust system with low backpressure. The kit also includes the Sport Chrono package which offers dynamic engine mounts. The distinctive features of the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S equipped with the new factory power kit include the titanium colored engine cover and the carbon inlays.

Other personalization options offered by this new program include a front apron, and a fixed rear spoiler and a fixed rear wing and privacy glass. Porsche did not disclose the price of the new program for the 2012 Carrera S.
