James May Auctions Off His 1984 Porsche 911

Things are starting to look grim for former Top Gear presenter James May. He announced today that he is going to auction off his 1984 Porsche 911 during this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. Captain Slow bought his 1984 Porsche 911 in 2007, during recording of the "Speed, Greed and the M25" documentary, which aired on Radio 4. James May's 1984 Porsche 911 appeared on screen on several occasions. These include the "Airfix" episode of "James May's Toy Stories", and in a Top Gear online movie called "James drives to work". The car was also features on Top Gear Live. James says he drove his beloved 1984 Porsche 911 in good weather only, and that the car has around 55,000 km on its odometer. The car is equipped with a CD player, the but it will be sold with the standard radio/cassette player too.

This 1984 Porsche 911 will be auctioned together with a Haynes workshop manual, Porsche GB correspondence, a service booklet, sundry service invoices, old and current V5 documents (the latter in James May's name), and a quantity of expired tax discs and MoTs dating back to 1984.

James May's 1984 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Coupe is expected to fetch between £28,000 and £34,000.
