Porsche revealed today the new 911 50 Years Edition, which is going to have its world debut in September, at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show (IAA) in Germany. The Porsche 911 50 Years Edition is based on the latest version of the 911 Carrera S coupe and it will go on sale in September. The first Porsche 911 coupe had its premiere back in 1963, so the German carmaker is going to sell the new 50 Years Edition in just 1,963 units. The 50 Years Edition of the 911 is powered by the 3.8-litre flat-six engine, which has an output of 400 hp. With this engine on its back, the 911 50 Years Edition is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds (4.3 seconds with the PDK double-clutch transmission) and to reach a top speed of 186 mph (185 mph with PDK).

Porsche rates the 50 Years Edition 911 with a 29.7 mpg (32.5 mpg with PDK) NEDC combined fuel economy. They say it emits 224 g/km (205 g/km with PDK) of CO2.

The 911 50 Years Edition is rear wheel drive and it has the same active sports suspension as the Carrera S. However, it features a 44-mm wider body, and distinctive body styling. The 50 Years Edition Porsche 911 comes with a uniquely tuned Active Suspension Management (PASM) system, and a sports exhaust.

Some of the styling details of the 911 50 Years Edition include chrome strips on the fins of the engine compartment grille, special trims on the front air intakes, a strip across the car between the rear lights. Porsche also equips the 50 Years Edition 911 with a special set of 20-inch five-spoke cast alloy wheels. Porsche's 50 Years Edition is going to be available in either Graphite Grey or Geyser Grey metallic. There are several "911 50" scattered around the 911's interior and exterior too.
