The 2013 Ford Fusion has its global debut these days in Detroit, where it was unveiled at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. Apart from the standard version, the 2013 Ford Fusion will also be available as a Hybrid and as the Energi. In Europe and other markets, the new Fusion will be marketed as the 2013 Ford Mondeo. The 2013 Ford Fusion comes with a completely new exterior and interior styling. It now has a more muscular and aggressive appearance, modeled on the design language expressed by the Ford Evos. Apart from the new "face" and engines, the 2013 Fusion is also packed with new technology.
Some of the features of the 2013 Ford Fusion include the Lane Keeping System, adaptive cruise control, active park assist and MyFord Touch.
Ford will sell the 2013 Fusion equipped with the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), LED taillights, and an advanced suspension system.
The standard 2013 Ford Fusion will be available with a choice between three engines:
- 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder, 170 hp, 170 lb.-ft., six-speed automatic
- 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder, 179 hp, 172 lb.-ft., six-speed automatic/six-speed manual
- 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder, 237 hp, 250 lb.-ft., SelectShift automatic.
The 2013 Ford Fusion Energi is a plug-in hybrid vehicle which hopes to become the most fuel-efficient midsize car in the world. Ford expects it will offer a fuel consumption of 100 MPGe. This is 8 MPGe more than the Chevrolet Volt and 13 MPGe more than the Toyota Prius. Ford's 2013 Fusion Energi is powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder, Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine, with an output of 185 hp and 130 lb.-ft. of torque. The combustion engine works together with a Permanent magnet AC synchronous electric motor and an Electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT). The 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid shared the powertrain characteristics of the Energi.
