Dodge says about the new generation 2014 Durango that it's the ultimate no compromise SUV, but we would not go as far as to say that. The 2014 Dodge Durango does come with numerous changes in terms of performance, efficiency and design, but it's hardly the ultimate SUV. In terms of exterior design, the 2014 Durango comes with restyled headlights that now incorporate LED DRLs, a revised front grille, a new rear bumper and LED rear lights that run the entire width of the SUV's rear end. The 2014 Durango R/T has a 20-mm lowered ride height in comparison to its predecessor. The interior of the new Durango (2014) shows extensive changes. The SUV comes with a newly designed dashboard and center console.

For the 2014 Durango, Dodge is offering 5-inch or 8.4-inch touchscreens, a third row of seats, Uconnect Access, navigation with 3D mapping, a 7-inch customizable TFT color instrument cluster and a Blu-ray / DVD rear entertainment system with dual 9-inch screens. The 2014 Dodge Durango's interior equipment list is much longer and it's available lower down this page.

The 2014 Dodge Durango is going to be sold with a choice between three engines. These include a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 developing 290 hp (295 hp on Rallye) and 260 lb.-ft. of torque that can tow as much as 6,200 pounds.

The new 2014 Durango is also available with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine that's good for 360 hp and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. With the HEMI, the version of the SUV can to as much as 7,400 pounds. Dodge is now offering for the Durango (2014) an 8-speed automatic transmission that improves the SUV's fuel economy by up to 9 percent and an Eco Mode.

When designing the interior of the 2014 Durango, Dodge aimed at making the seating configuration as flexible as possible. The SUV's passenger seat can be folded flat, while the second-row seats have a 60/40 split folding capability. The third row has a 50/50 split. Dodge says that you can easily transport 10-foot 2x4s in the 2014 Durango.

Dodge will sell the 2014 Durango with either rear-wheel-drive system, or one of the two AWD systems, which give the SUV a 50/50 weight distribution. The HEMI Durango (2014) is also equipped with a low-range transfer case with a neutral position.

Some of the safety systems available for the new Dodge Durango (2014) include all-speed traction control and electronic stability control (ESC), trailer-sway control, forward collision warning with crash mitigation, adative cruise control with stop, Blind-spot Monitoring (BSM) and Rear Cross Path (RCP) detection. There are also seven standard airbags.

The 2014 Dodge Durango's price and availability are going to be announced at a later date. The full details and specifications of the new Durango are available here.
