Buick Encore

The 2013 Buick Encore SUV had its world debut today at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. The Buick Encore is 168.5-inch in length, 69.9-inch in width and 64.8-inch in height. With a 100.6-inch wheelbase and a 6.2-inch minimum ground clearance, the Buick Encore could have some off-road capabilities. Buick will sell the 2013 Encore with a single engine choice: a 1.4L turbocharged DOHC I-4 gasoline engine, which is good for 140 hp / 103 kW at 4900 rpm and 148 lb-ft / 200 Nm of torque at 1850 rpm. The engine will be mated to a HydraMatic 6T40 6-speed automatic transmission. The full specifications and features of the Buick Encore are available lower down this page.

Even though they did not announce its price yet, Buick did mention it will go on sale in the first quarter of 2013.

Offering seating for five passengers and a 48.4 cubic feet (1,372 liters) boot, the Buick Encore, with its all-wheel-drive system, will fall in the same category as the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3. We're wondering if the Encore will be able to offer the same quality and comfort as its European premium rivals.

The Buick Encore will come as standard with IntelliLink, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and a seven-inch LCD display. The 2013 Encore also benefits from the new QuietTuning technology, which manages to reduce the noise heard inside the car while driving.
