Chrome and chromed vehicles have always had their appeal and people will always be fascinated by the idea. Audi revealed today a chromed version of the R8 V10 Spyder to support the EJAF White Tie & Tiara Ball, which takes place each year at the home of Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish. The chrome covered Audi R8 Spyder will be auctioned this year in support Sir Elton John's charity. The chrome R8 was donated by Audi and it will be auctioned on Thursday June 23rd, 2011.
Audi covered the 194 mph open-top R8 Spyder with a unique mirror-like chromed finish, which will probably require a lot of maintenance. This particular r8 is powered by the standard V10 engine, developing 525PS, which able to take the supercar from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.1 seconds.
The standard Audi R8 Spyder, without a dazzling chrome exterior paint job, is priced from 117,710 GBP, so expect this one to be quite a bit more expensive.
UPDATE: The chromed Audi R8 Spyder sold for 250,000 GBP.
