Michael Macht, the new boss at Porsche, has revealed in an interview with Autocar, the company's first 100% electric model will be based on the Porsche Panamera. However, the electric Porsche Panamera will se the light of day only when the technology involved will get at the performance level required by the company's image. Macht believes that the technology for the electric Porsche Panamera will be developed in two year's time.
As the merger with Volkswagen is imminent, the new boss also confirmed that the platforms of the Porsche 911 and the Porsche Panamera will be shared among other brands of the group.
Apart from the announcement of the electric Porsche Panamera, the company also says it will no longer borrow engine technology from other brands. All the future engines will be developed by Porsche as this is one of their trademarks.
