Ferrari unveiled at the end of last week the new SP12 EC, which is based on the 458 Italia. What does EC stand for? Well, it's Eric Clapton. Centro Stile Ferrari in collaboration with Pininfarina created the SP12 EC especially for Eric Clapton. This is the way Ferrari chose to bring homage to the career of the great musician. Eric Clapton passion for Ferrari grew stronger as he acquired a 512 BB, which became his favorite model. The Ferrari SP12 EC's design was inspired by this model. Eric Clapton said that being involved in the development of the Ferrari SP12 EC was one of the most satisfying things he has ever done.

Ferrari does not mention what the SP12 EC hides under its hood, but we're pretty sure it's the 458's standard engine.

This means that the Ferrari SP12 EC is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 engine, with an output of 570 hp and 540 Nm of torque. The SP12 EC is expected to have at least the same performance figures as the 458. This means it needs 3.4 seconds to get from 0 to 62 mph and that it can get up to a top speed of 325 km/h. The price of the one-off Ferrari SP12 EC has not been disclosed.
