The Ford Transit turns 45 next month and the Blue Oval has released a set of images showing various advertising campaign that help with the success of the van over the years. The Ford Transit was launched in 1965 and in the past 45 years more than six million units have been built in 22 factories across the world.

The first version of the Ford Transit had a short wheelbase and was powered by a petrol engine. It was able to carry a 610kg payload and was priced at only 542 GBP. The most expensive version of the first Ford Transit was a 15-seat Custom bus which was priced at 997 GBP. At launch, the Ford Transit was available in 78 variations, but the current version offers more than 600 deviates.
