Genty Akylone French Supercar

The Genty Akylone has been unveiled today by a new French car manufacturer, who hopes to break the Italian dominance of the supercar market. The new French supercar aims to enter the same market segment as the Bugatti Veyron, the SSC Aero and the Hennessey Venom GT. With more than 1,000 hp under its hood, and looks to make your heart skip a beat, the Genty Akylone has all it needs to make it into this market. However, we couldn’t help ourselves observing that those exhaust pipes look a bit too similar to the ones of the McLaren MP4-12C.

The Genty Akylone measures 175.8 inch in length, 80.7 inch in width, 43.9 inch in height, has a 2780 mm wheelbase and weighs 2425 lbs. It has a 42/58 front/rear weight distribution.

Genty's Akylone is built on a composite monobloc chassis, which carbon and aluminum inserts. Thanks to a low stance, the Genty Akylone is extremely aerodynamic. Genty rates it with a 0.35 drag coefficient.

The Genty Akylone is powered by a 4.8-liter twin-turbocharged engine mated to 7-speed sequential transmission, with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. The Genty Akylone is rated with an output of 1000 bhp at 8000 rpm and 940 ft.-lbs. of torque at 5000 rpm.

This means that the new supercar has a 1,1 power to weight ratio. The French supercar manufacturer says that the Akylone runs on both 98-octane petrol and on E85 biofuel. The Genty Akylone can reach a top speed of 220 mph and has a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration time of just 2.7 seconds. Genty claims that the Akylone can run the quarter mile in 9.8 seconds.

The Genty Akylone price has not been announced. The new French supercar will enter production at a later date. Watch the Genty Akylone on video lower down this page.
