Hyundai revealed today the Elantra Coupe ahead of the new version's debut, which will take place at this year's Chicago Auto Show. The two-door Hyundai Elantra Coupe will go on sale this spring, but its price list has not been announced yet. Hyundai's coupe Elantra measures 178.7 inches in length, 69.9 inches in width and 56.5 inches in height. To power the new Elantra Coupe, Hyundai is using a 1.8-liter "Nu" engine, which comes with Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) and outputs 148 hp at 6500 rpm and 131 lb-ft of torque at 4700 rpm. This is the same engine used in the Elantra GT hatchback.

The Hyundai Elantra Coupe will come with a 6-speed manual transmission, and it will have a 29 mpg city / 40 mpg highway fuel consumption.

The 6-speed automatic version of the Elantra Coupe promises a 28 mpg city / 39 mpg highway fuel economy.

Apart from being efficient, the new Elantra Coupe also promises to offer plenty of interior space for both passengers and their luggage. With a 14.8 cu. ft. boot, the Elantra Coupe surpasses its main competitors (the Honda Civic Coupe and the Kia Forte Koup).

To make the Elantra Coupe offer a sporty experience, Hyundai equipped it with a McPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear one. They also used a 22.0-mm diameter front stabilizer bar to reduce body roll and to increase its cornering speeds. For better handling, the Elantra Coupe comes with a column-mounted, motor-driven electric power steering (MDPS). The MDPS is able to adjust instantly to changing driving conditions, reducing the car's fuel consumption and increasing its safety.

The Hyundai Elantra Coupe comes as standard with all the safety systems you'd expect from a modern car. These includes the VSM, the ESC, the TCS, and the ABS with Brake Assist and EBD.

At the interior, the Elantra Coupe offers quite a few items you would expect from a premium model. These include a 172-watt AM/FM/Satellite Radio/CD/MP3 audio system, a high-resolution 7.0-inch touch-screen, push-button start, power sunroof and heated front seats.

The price of the Hyundai Elantra Coupe will be announced at a later date.
