Jaguar has announced this week that a modified XFR has just become the fastest model they have ever made, even faster than the XJ200 (image) supercar. Today, Autoexpress reports that Jaguar is working on a new supercar, which they believe it will be called the Jaguar XE. The new Jaguar XE mid-engine coupe is set to debut in a year's time and it will probably be based on the R-Coupe concept, which was revealed in 2001.
The new Jaguar XE mid-engine coupe is going to enter the same market as the Audi R8 and, if it becomes a reality, it will be the first sportscar launched by the British brand since it acquisition by Tata.
Autoexpress believes the new Jaguar XE mid-engine coupe will be based on the XK and will be powered by a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 developing something in the region of 500 hp.
