Jaguar revealed today the estate / station wagon version of their XF sedan, which is called the Sportbrake. The Jaguar XF Sportbrake is going to be unveiled next week in Geneva and it will go on sale in the third quarter of 2012. Its price will be announced at a later date. The XF Sportbrake is basically identical to the sedan up until its B-Pillar. From there rearwards it's a completely new car. Jaguar's Sportbrake XF measures 1970mm in length, which is significantly longer than the sedan. This offers it a 550-litre boot capacity when its rear seats are up. The luggage compartment of the XF Sportbrake can be increased to 1,675-litres by folding the rear bench.

As an optional extra, Jaguar can equip the XF Sportbrake's tailgate with power struts, which make loading / unloading much easier.

Other specific equipment includes remote fold levers for the rear seats, which are mounted in the boot, LED lighting of the luggage compartment, a soft close function for the tailgate, and a three-section floor. There's also a tray mounted beneath the boot floor for storing valuable items.

To be able to hold a lot more cargo than the sedan, the Sportbrake XF comes with a stronger rear air suspension with a self-leveling function. Basically, Jaguar wants to win points with the caravan club with this one.

The Jaguar XF Sportbrake is not for cargo only. Its rear passengers benefit from 48mm of extra headroom in comparison to what the sedan is offering.

The Jaguar XF Sportbrake's engine choices include a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder with an Intelligent Stop-Start system, and a 3.0-litre V6 with an output of 275PS (202kW) and 600Nm (442lb/ft) of torque. Both versions of the Jaguar XF Sportbrake are rear-wheel-drive and both of them come equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
