The new Jaguar XKR-S GT had its world debut this week at the 2013 New York International Auto Show. Jaguar says that the XKR-S GT is the ultimate road-going, track-ready XK coupe. The XKR-S GT was developed by Jaguar's ETO division and its production is going to be limited to just 30 units. This makes it the rarest performance Jag built in the last 25 years. As you can see from the images, the XKR-S GT comes with a bespoke aerodynamic package, which is able to generate as much as 145 kg of downforce. To power, the XKR-S GT, Jaguar chose the 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine, which generates 550 PS (405 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque between 2,500 and 5,500 rpm. The power of the engine gores to the Jag's rear wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Jaguar's official specifications say that the XKR-S GT is able to accelerate from nought to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds and that it can reach a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h).
The XKR-S GT's new aerodynamics include a 60mm carbon-fiber front splitter, twin dive-planes, wider wheel arches, an aluminum front valance, a rear diffuser and a huge rear wing. Jaguar equips the XKR-S GT with a revised suspension system (based on the one of the F-Type), with a motorsport-derived twin spring system, and height adjustable dampers. The spring rates of the GT are 68% (front) and 25% (rear) stiffer than the ones of the standard XKR-S. The XKR-S GT also has a 52mm wider track at the front.
The Jaguar XKR-S GT sits on 20-inch alloys and carbon ceramic brakes with 398mm and 380mm front/rear discs, 6-piston monobloc calipers at the front and 4-piston ones at the rear. Aside from the standard DSC system, the XKR-S GT is also equipped with the Pre-Fill system, which pressurizes the brakes every time the driver comes off the throttle pedal.
For the interior of the XKR-S GT, Jaguar offers 16-way electrically adjustable Performance seats covered in Charcoal leather and Suedecloth, a Jet Suedecloth headlining and steering wheel, and aluminum paddle shifters.
