Lamborghini revealed today at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show the new Veneno hypercar. The Lamborghini Veneno is meant to celebrate the company's 50th anniversary. The Veneno is the most exclusive vehicle ever built by Lamborghini. Only three units will ever be built, each priced at a cool three million Euros. As you're probably expecting, all three units of the Lamborghini Veneno have already been sold. To power, the Veneno, Lamborghini chose a 6.5-liter V12 engine that develops 552 kW / 750 hp. With this monster engine, the Veneno is able to accelerate from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds and to reach a top speed of 355 km/h. The Veneno is basically a racing prototype that's homologated for use on public roads.
The engine of the Veneno is mated to Lambo's 7-speed ISR transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
The Veneno offers 5 driving modes, a CFRP monocoque racing chassis with pushrod suspension and horizontal springs and dampers, and a carbon exterior. For the interior of the Veneno, Lamborghini used such materials as Forged Composite and CarbonSkin.
The name Veneno comes from one of the strongest and fastest fighting bulls in history. This bull fatally wounded torero Jose Sanchez RodrÃguez in 1914 during a fight in the Sanlucar de Barrameda's, Andalusia, Spain.
Lamborghini spent a lot of time in the wind tunnel when developing the Veneno. The Italian supercar manufacturer says it has optimum downforce with minimal drag and perfect cooling. We say Lamborghini finally built a supercar we will be glad to have on a poster on our wall. However, every single body part of the Veneno has a purpose. It's used either for downforce, or for cooling the engine and brakes. It comes with an adjustable rear wing that interacts with the diffuser, and aerodynamic optimized wheels (20-inch front, 21-inch rear). The wheels feature a carbon-fiber ring around the rim which helps cool the brakes.
The Lamborghini Veneno weighs 1,450 kilograms (3,190 pounds), which means it's 125 kilos (275 pounds) lighter that the Aventador. It has a power-to-weight ratio of 1.93 kg/hp (4,25 lbs/hp).
