Lamborghini revealed today the new Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, which they like to call the "most exciting series production Lamborghini ever built". The convertible Aventador comes to complete the success its coupe sibling, which is already sold in more than 1,300 units. The exterior design of the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster is slightly different in comparison to the coupe. It features new geometric lines that extend from the removable roof to the engine hood. The roadster Aventador comes with a removable carbon fiber roof made of two pieces. Lamborghini used several techniques for building this roof, including RTM and Forged Composite. Each piece of the roof weighs less than 6 kg, and both of them can be stored in the front luggage compartment.

To be able to accommodate the removable roof, the rear pillar of the Aventador Roadster had to be redesigned. This pillar incorporates an automatic protection system for passengers and at the same time it offers ventilation for the engine.

The Lamborghini Aventador Roadster also features a re-styled engine hood, which now has a central "spinal column" with two pairs of hexagonal windows. The Aventador Roadster is powered by the same 6.5-liter V12 engine as the coupe. This means it has an output of 700 HP (515 kW) at 8.250 rpm and 690 Nm at 5.500 rpm.

Just as the coupe, the roadster comes with an ISR 7-speed transmission and a push-rod suspension. Lamborghini says that the roadster Aventador needs 3.0 seconds to get from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) and that it has a top speed of 350 km/h. In comparison, the coupe can get to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, but they both have the same top speed. To increase the efficiency of such a large and powerful engine, Lambo equipped it with an instant Stop & Start system.

The Aventador Roadster comes with a two-tone exterior finish that creates the effect of a completely open vehicle. At the interior, the roadster comes with Sabbia Nefertem leather, and a hand-made upholstery. The car sits on new Dione 20”/21” rims made of aluminum that lower the supercar's weight by 10 Kg.

The Lamborghini Aventador Roadster's price has been set to 300,000 EUR, excluding taxes.
