Lexus LFA Nurburgring Nordschleife Lap Record

 »  »  »

Earlier this year we were announcing that the Lexus LFA Nurburgring special edition manage to lap the Nordschleife track in 7 minutes and 22.85 seconds. However, that was not an official record. Lexus announced today, officially, that the LFA Nurburgring set a record lap time of the famous 'Green Hell' circuit of 7:14.64. This is in fact a new record for regular production cars. Lexus says that the LFA Nurburgring used for the run was a completely standard vehicle, equipped with Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires. The supercar was driven by test driver and professional racer Akira Iida.

The Lexus LFA Nurburgring is limited to 50 units and features several enhancements in both power and aerodynamics.

The output of the 4.8-litre V10 engine is increased from 552 to 562bhp. Even though the extra power doesn't improve the LFA Nurburgring's 0-62 mph acceleration time (3.7 seconds), it does increase its top speed. Lexus equips the LFA Nurburgring with carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) front spoiler, a fixed rear wing, a track-tuned suspension and custom wheels.

Lexus says that the first deliveries of the LFA Nurburgring will begin next year. Watch the LFA's record setting lap in the video below.
