A McLaren F1 successor has long been rumored, but today we get the first strong indications that it will actually be a reality. McLaren is preparing to launch the F1's successor, which is known internally as Mega Mac, in 2014. McLaren's Mega Mac is meant to be the supercar that will take the first place from the Veyron in every aspect. McLaren develops the Mega Mac to offer amazing performance and derivability and at the same time to have the highest level of everyday usability.
Out sources say that McLaren's Mega Mac will be powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine developing 799 hp. How are going to compete with Veyron's 1,001 hp ? The engine of the Mega Mac McLaren will send 799 hp at 7500 rpm and 590 lb.-ft. of torque between 3500 rpm and 6800 rpm to the rear wheels
via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission developed by Graziano. with this monster under its hood, the F1's success will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and from 0 to 200 mph in just 20 seconds. comparing these numbers with Bugatti's, it seems the Mega Mac will lose the 0-60 mph battle, however, it will win the 0-200 mph one.
The 2014 Mega Mac McLaren will have active aerodynamics, including a rear airbrake, some luggage space behind the seats, and an on-board data logging system (video camera included).
McLaren will equip the F1's success with Brembo ceramic brakes, a Brake Steer system, EBD, adaptive dampers and an anti-roll control system.
McLaren's new hypercar, nicknamed Mega Mac, will be built in only 500 units and will be priced from 400,000 EUR.
