McLaren revealed a special edition version of the 650S Spider to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Can-Am racing season. The McLaren 650S Spider Can-Am was designed by MSO and it is inspired by the racing cars of the 1960s. The McLaren 650S Spider Can-Am comes with several distinctive carbon fiber parts such as the retractable hard top, the hood, the Airbrake, the front splitter, the rear bumper centre, the door blades, the louvered front wings and even the 650S Can-Am branded sill cover. The supercar is fitted with a set of bespoke wheels, which are also inspired by the racecars of the '60s. They feature a gloss-black finish, a diamond cut rim, titanium bolts and Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires. The McLaren 650S Spider Can-Am comes equipped with carbon ceramic brakes, black calipers, and a custom stainless steel exhaust system.

The supercar is powered by the standard 3.8-litre V8 twin turbo engine, which puts out 650PS (641bhp) and 678Nm (500 lb ft) of torque. With this engine the McLaren 650S is able to get from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 204 mph (329 km/h).

For the interior of the car, MSO chose leather, Alcantara and various trim parts. McLaren 650S Spider Can-Am's price is set at £255,850 and its production is going to be limited to 50 units worldwide.
