After yesterday's leaked images, Mini Cooper decided today to release the complete details and the images of the new high-performance Mini Paceman JCW (John Cooper Works). The world premiere of the Mini John Cooper Works Paceman is going to take place at the 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in January after which it will go on sale in March. As we expected, to power the new JCW Paceman, Mini uses the 1.6-liter (1,598 cc) 4-cylinder engine that's equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger, direct injection and VALVETRONIC variable valve control. The output of this powertrain is rated at 160 kW/218 hp at 6,000 rpm and 280 Nm (207 lb-ft) is on tap between 1,900 and 5,000 rpm. The torque output of the Mini Paceman JCW can be increased to 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) between 2,100 and 4,500 rpm for short periods of time using the overboost function.

In terms of performance figures, the Paceman JCW is able to get from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.9 seconds and to reach a top speed of 226 (140 mph) with the 6-speed manual transmission and 224 km/h (139 mph) with the 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Mini Paceman JCW is rated with a fuel economy of 7.4 liters (automatic: 7.9 liters) per 100 kilometers / 38.2 (35.8) mpg imp. The U.S. version of the model is rated with a fuel consumption of 31 mpg highway / 25 mpg city / 27 mpg combined (manual) or 30 mpg highway / 23 mpg city / 26 mpg combined (automatic). The high-performance Paceman is rated with a 172 (184) g/km CO2 emissions level.

The Mini Paceman JCW comes equipped as standard with the brands ALL4 all-wheel drive system, and an electromagnetic center differential with a 50:50 ratio between front and rear. In extreme conditions, all the power is sent to the rear wheels.

In comparison to the standard Mini Paceman, the JCW version sits 10 mm closer to the road. It comes with a MacPherson spring-strut front axle, central-arm rear axle, Electric Power Steering, bigger brakes, stronger anti-roll bars. Its DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system also includes the DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) mode. To increase the efficiency of the Paceman JCW, Mini equips it with Brake Energy Regeneration, a Gear Shift Indicator and an Auto Start/Stop function.

It's obvious from the images that the Mini Paceman JCW comes with a new body kit, a high-end interior, various badges and 18- or 19-inch alloys.

The Mini Paceman JCW's price is going to be announced at a later date.
