Most Expensive Car: 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO

 »  »  »

Reportedly, the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO in this image has become the new most expensive car in the world. Originally built for the legendary race driver Sir Stirling Moss, this Ferrari 250 GTO (1962) was sold to a private collector last month for a cool $35 million. Rumor says that the car was bought by Craig McCaw (USA) from Eric Heerema, who is a Dutch businessman. None of them were available for comments. The $35 million 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO takes the "world's most expensive car" award from a 250 Testa Rossa, which was previously sold for $25 million to French collector Pierre Bardinon. The most expensive car before those two was also a Ferrari 250 GTO. This one was acquired by radio host Chris Evans for $18 million two years ago.

We can safely say that if you want to be the person owning the most expensive car on the planet, you should go after a Ferrari 250. In the last two years, three of them exchanged hands for a total of $78 million.
