
With the announcement of building a new manufacturing plant, McLaren also gave the first official details of their new models.
McLaren announced that it will hot the market with a new high performance and highly efficient sports car in 2011. McLaren will not stop at just one new model and plans to build a range of high performance sports cars with an initial annual production of 1,000, increasing to around 4,000 when the range is complete. All the new McLaren models will be mid-engined highly efficient high performance sports cars.
Regarding the new plant, Ron Dennis, Chairman of McLaren Automotive, said it will offer 800 new jobs. McLaren has received numerous offers to build the new models in foreign plants, but Ron Dennis considers the company has to remain exclusively British.
