Peugeot Press Release:

The 207 is awarded Best Imported Car of the Year in Japan

The 207 has received first prize in the category Imported Car of the Year which is awarded each year in Japan by the Automotive Researchers’ & Journalists’ Conference of Japan (RJC).

The 207 won this award by achieving a score of 474 points, a comfortable advantage of 200 points over the next placed vehicle. The 207 particularly impressed the jury with its very expressive exterior style and its high level of active and passive safety confirmed by its 5 Star EuroNCAP rating.

Since its launch in March 2007, more than 2,000 207’s have been sold in Japan. The range, which recently expanded with the introduction of the 207 CC and 207 GTi, will increase again with the

launch of the 207 SW at the beginning of 2008.

Available as a 3 and 5 door hatchback, Coupe Cabriolet, RC (GTi in certain markets) and SW, the 207 has rapidly placed itself amongst the best sellers, notably in the European market (27 countries). In Europe it is the fourth best selling model with a 2.8% market share at the end of September 2007, and it continues to be the best selling model in the European B segment, since the beginning of the year with sales equally divided between petrol and Hdi versions.

At the end of September 2007, there was a total

of 85,000 registrations of both the Peugeot 206 and 207 in Europe, an increase (+ 24%) over the same period in 2006.

Over the whole of 2007, its first full year on sale, the 207 will achieve the objective of 500,000 worldwide sales announced at its launch.
