Peugeot has just released this teaser image of the 208 Type R5, which is going to be premiered at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. The Peugeot 208 Type R5 is going to be the company's new rally car, that's going to be tested starting this year. Peugeot will put it on sale in 2013. The Peugeot 208 R5 complies with the FIA's Group A technical regulations and it's going to be powered by a 1.6-litre turbo EP6 CDT engine. This means that the new 208 R8 develops 280bhp at 6,000rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 2,500rpm. Peugeot hopes that this new engine will last for as much as 5000 kilometers in racing conditions. The car features a Magneti Marelli High Pressure direct injection system, and a Single throttle intake.

As you would expect, the 208 R5 is fitted with a four-wheel-drive system. It has a dual disc clutch, a 5-speed sequential transmission and two self-locking differentials. Peugeot built the 208 R5 with a Pseudo MacPherson suspension on all four corners.
