Peugeot revealed today the production version of the 208 GTi, which will go on sale next spring. Presented as a concept as this year's Geneva auto show, the Peugeot 208 GTi keeps most of the original design elements. Peugeot powers the 208 GTi with a 1.6-litre THP engine, which is good for 147kW (200bhp), and 275Nm of torque. Even though the horsepower output doesn't seem like much, the car weighs just 1160kg. This means it can accelerate from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.0 seconds. Peugeot forgot to mention the fuel consumption of the new GTi 208, but they do mention it emits 145g/km of CO2. The new 208 GTi is equipped with a fully disengageable ESP system, 17-inch alloys, 302mm ventilated discs at the front and 249mm at the rear.

To offer a sporty experience, the suspension system of the 208 GTi has been especially tuned, and the hatchback has been equipped with an anti-roll bar.

Some of the 208 GTi's distinctive design features include the gloss black rear skirt, the trapezoid chromed double tailpipe and various badges. At the interior, the Peugeot 208 GTi features Club Nappa leather and Caro Weave cloth, LED-lit dials, aluminum pedals and a sports steering wheel.

The Peugeot 208 GTi's price has not been announced yet.
